creative learning in schools

As a Creative Agent for the Lead Creative Schools Scheme (LCS), run by Arts Council Cymru for the Welsh Government I facilitated a number of creative learning projects.

The LCS is a five year scheme to foster creative learning in primary and secondary schools across Wales. Schools can apply for funding to become a Lead Creative School and run two projects involving bringing creative practitioners into the school to work with pupils and teachers.

As Creative Agent I facilitated learning projects in Cwmaman Infants, Glynhafod Juniors and Porth Community Comprehensive. The projects have involved film-makers, scientists, app designers, willow weavers, theatre companies and story tellers. Supporting professional learning and evaluation was also part of the role.

The work is extremely rewarding and interesting. The motivational effects of giving pupils control over their learning, and allowing them to create something new are striking.
