about me

I am a physics graduate who has turned his sense of wonder to the creation of experiences for people that are memorable and special.

After running my own business in childrens’ play and arts management for 7 years, I held senior roles in science engagement for over 25 years. Posts included Head of Education, Head of Creative Services and Chief Executive. I am now an independent consultant, following my interests and learning more than ever.

A hugely rewarding part of my career has been managing the design and creation of 100s of exciting exhibitions, shows, workshops and digital resources. I particularly enjoy the creative process but also like facilitating, sorting out the financing, contracting and partnerships, often taking an entrepreneurial approach.

The end result - the impact on people - is what matters to me, and I am concerned with maximising social benefit. I have learnt a lot from leading the scaling-up of particularly effective interventions, whether by moving from prototype to production, or by expanding operational capacity through licensing or franchising.

I love travelling and am proud to have worked with many brilliant people and in partnerships all over the world, across business, government, education trusts, foundations, schools and FE/HE.

As an independent consultant my horizons have broadened; I am able to network more and keep abreast of the latest developments. Although my roots are in STEM, I am increasingly interested in cultural change and working at the boundaries of the arts, sciences and well being.
